Poland just decided to sign bilateral defence treaty with the UK in the spirit of similar treaties signed before WW2 but this time thw UK would really help, not like the last one.

Pre-WW2: 1921 Franco-Polish alliance + 1939 Anglo-Polish mutual assistance treaty promised aid against German aggression

Now: 2025 Poland-France Treaty (mutual security guarantees, defence cooperation) + upcoming UK treaty (May 2025/27)

Both eras feature formal bilateral promises of support amid eastern threats (then Germany, now Russia), echoing “guarantees” structure though NATO changes context today because Poland is still de jure protected by President Trump, at least officially xD
