According to this thread teachers are reporting they have students in the 5th grade who can’t even tell you their home address. Why are things so bad?

First week of school, I was having my 5th graders label their folders. I had a kid who said, “I don’t know how to write ELD.” I have a kid who doesn’t know how to pronounce his own first name. Neither did admin. Neither did his legal guardian when we called him. But seriously the amount of kids that do not know their legal full name is insane now.
