Testing with VirtualBox, also on Linux.

Boot option - “Safe graphics because Nvidia sucks” is amusing, although I’d ask whether an opinionated option is really the first thing you want people to see.

Partitions - explicit swap with hibernate option is VERY interesting to me and something I’ll have to try natively on a laptop instead of VM. Hibernate is broken to hell on Linux Mint, even if one does figure out how to command a hibernate via systemctl or whatever does it, so if Spaced has working turn-key hibernate, that’s a major feature win. TBC

Name - Having the S in Spaced just standing for Spaced is weird, maybe try to backronym it to fit with the other letters (Polished Agile Compiz Efficient Devuan). It’s unfortunate because Paced is also a valid word.

Font - Sans Regular is very wide to use as default, I immediately changed App/Doc/Desktop to Nimbus Sans and window title to Nimbus Sans Bold and it looked a lot better.

Browser - options have been mentioned by others, along with de-gaying Brave. Strongly suggest removing the extra bookmarks it adds, nobody who gets this far wants to see that, it risks the “shovelware” label.

It could be a bit clearer from the start that the user has to choose to install a browser, office suite, media player, etc. I think the clean default is fine (“Keep the base system lean”), yet I’ve never seen that go as far as lacking a pre-installed GUI package manager. I like having Synaptic or similar, basically a front-end to apt-cache and apt-get, where I’d go if I wanted build-essential, cmake, mercurial and such. Or a lowlatency kernel header package or kernel update (not desktop apps like with SpacedBazaar).

That makes the welcome panel more important than usual, that a user who closes it without installing a browser then just has no Internet section in the apps menu at all, where one usually looks for a default browser. I suggest the really important app classes (including browser and package manager) could get app menu
