Back in spring, while pulling weeds, I dig up all the maple saplings and planted them in one big patch at the end of the yard.

Today, some of them are as tall as I am. I’ve been calling that patch the enchanted forest.

Earlier, rabbit ran out from the patch as I approached. Soon, it will be a canopy of privacy. Will probably do the same thing next year and build a tree line to cover the ugly adjacent property on the other side. Not to mention the giant Thulja are now well over ten feet tall since I planted them last summer. Pretty soon, it’ll be a wall around the property.
