Just saw this movie and I am extremely disappointed. Outside the first maybe third, every single horror scene was undercut by a joke or a goofy reaction from the main character. It just completely refused to let a single moment actually be serious, or actually be emotional (in the like two attempts it made at emotion, the entire plot about his pregnant girlfriend honestly could have just been cut for how half-assed it was). This is also a common complaint about horror movies but holy shit what a retard every single fucking character was. Entire segments of the plot only happened because no one had an IQ above the low single digits. It sucks because I feel this really could have been a great horror and monster movie, but it’s like it was infected by the Marvel fear of letting any moment not be undercut by meta sarcasm.
