The verses states “‘Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly."
I fail to see how an all-loving and moral God would ever command something evil and immoral such as this.
I would come to expect that a perfectly moral and all-loving God would say “I hate slavery” and “Thou shall not own other people as property”, but yet, God instructed that slavery was ok for Israelites
Time for the Christian Olympic level mental gymnastics, to try and bullshit you. Ranging from it’s not slavery slavery it’s just slavery, to let’s whitewash slavery to make it not a big deal, and every batshit take in-between.
If this post blows up enough you’ll probably be graced with the you can only truly understand it if you’ve got the holy sprit types too.
And just think all of this because the Bible punts on slavery, like it’s a first down with plenty of time on the clock. Christians attributing their god as being always right, the objective moral center of morality, and never changing. And people picking and choosing which parts of this book apply and aren’t honest enough to admit it.
If you want to know something that’s really wild. If you really think about it and all the attributes Christians give their god and put it all together. it means if it was condoned back then, it’s condoned today, and will be condoned all the way and even after the death of the universe. So you know let that sink in.
